The COVID Crisis in India - Our Message of Support
India is in the grip of a deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, with cases rising to almost 350,000 per day and an overwhelmed healthcare system. We in the UK are watching in horror at the unfolding humanitarian disaster, which has especially touched our British-Asian members with family and friends in India. Every hour of every day over the previous weeks, we’ve been dealing with terrible stories through grim WhatsApp messages, social media updates, and news of sick friends, relatives, even entire neighbourhoods or communities that are impacted.
As the Forum representing the Commonwealth of Nations (of which India is a member) within the National Liberal Club, we express our deep concern with the situation in India, and our solidarity with the people of India during this challenging time. We are here to provide support through our membership and networks, and any other means possible. Our members have been supporting UK charities which provide equipment and assistance, including oxygen supplies, ventilators, treatment facilities and e-consultations, and more. A short list of such charities is given below:
