The National Liberal Club (NLC) Europe Forum is pleased to mark Europe Day 2023 with NLC members and invited guests. After a welcome from Baroness Brinton and an introduction by the Chair, the Swedish Ambassador, Mikaela Kumlin Granit to address a range of pressing challenges affecting the European Union (EU), its Swedish Presidency and bilateral relations with the UK. The ambassador will outline the four priorities of the Sweden’s EU Presidency: Security – unity (including Ukraine), Resilience – competitiveness (Single market), Prosperity (energy market reform and the green transition), and promoting democratic values and the rule of law.

18.35-18.40:  Introduction by chair: Nick Hopkinson, Vice Chair, NLC Europe Forum and former
Director, Wilton Park, Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office

 18.40-19.00: Keynote address: Europe, the Swedish Presidency and the UK Ambassador

19.00-19:45: Comments and questions from participants, answers and closing remarks
